On Sunday August 26, 2012, George Douglas “Doug” Charrett, late of Prince Albert SK, passed away at the age of 79 years after a hard fought battle with Cancer. Doug worked for the city of Prince Albert for almost sixteen years, including eight years as Director of Planning and Development. He retired from the City in 1991. A lifelong learner, Doug was proud to complete his Bachelor of Vocational/Technical Education degree from the University of Regina in 1993. Retirement gave Doug the opportunity to fulfill his interest in writing. He had several published articles and books, as well as his weekly “Second Thoughts” column which appeared in the PA Shopper. Doug is survived by his son Craig (Diane); daughter Donna (Chris) Bowditch; and grandchildren Thomas, Cameron, Patrick, Emily, and Declan. Doug was predeceased by his wife Joyce; as well as his parents George and Helen. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday August 30, 2012 at St. Pauls Presbyterian Church, 12th Street & 1st Avenue East, Prince Albert SK with Reverend Dr. R.M.A Sandy Scott officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0Z9.
