Dorothy Josephine WELESKI (NEE BROWN)
April 17, 1933 – February 2, 2017
Dorothy passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 2, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital at the age of 83. Dorothy was born April 17, 1933 in Valley Centre, SK. Dorothy then moved to Regina and then to the Weirdale area where she raised her family. Dorothy spent many years volunteering at her children’s schools, rinks and other activities they took part in. Dorothy was awarded the Ray Aiken memorial award for volunteering. She was well known for her baking, especially her cinnamon buns and perogies, which her granddaughter Jaisy Dai still talks about. She took care of a lot of animals in her life from dogs, cats, geese, chickens, ducks and rabbis and she enjoyed every minute. Dorothy was an avid church goer where she spent a lot of time volunteering. She loved spending time visiting and playing games with her grandchildren, especially floor hockey with her grandson Dustin in their hallway of their trailer. Dorothy was an avid Raider fan and didn’t miss many games till her health started to fail. She moved to Prince Albert due to her health where she lived until she passed. Dorothy is survived by her husband Joe; her children Kim (Molly), Kevin (Tammy), Michael, Judy (Lloyd); grandkids Dustin (Naz), Jaisy Dai (Ron), Makayla, Jasmine, Addison and one great grandchild on the way; her sister Reta; sisters-in-law Lavonne Brown, Patricia Brown and Louise Weleski; her brother-in-law Nick Mischuk; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends Mavis (Rick) Davis, Jean and John Howden. She was predeceased by her parents Albert and Alice; son Doug; daughter Dawn; brothers Pat, Art, Jack and Jimmy; sister Delia; numerous sisters and brothers-in-law; as well as her special sister-in-law Elsie Mischuk. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. Both services will be held at Gray’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Scott Manley officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery with lunch to follow. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation, 1200- 24th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 4N9.
