Dorothy was born on August 29, 1930, to John and Mary Kelly. She was the oldest of 8 children. Dorothy attended Donnybrook school until grade 8. She would get to and from school on horseback. Growing up on the farm, Dorothy did most of the outside work. She milked the cows and helped with the younger children. She loved horseback riding and enjoyed music and dancing. On July 20, 1948, Dorothy married Arnold Tait and together they had 3 sons: Art, Lloyd and Kelvin. Dorothy was never afraid of hard work. She spent her days taking care of the many animals on the farm, working in the field and cooking for her family. Dorothy enjoyed picking berries and took great pride in her garden, teaching her grandchildren and great grandchildren all that she knew. The coffee pot was always on, and the cookie jar full for company that might stop in. In 2016, at the age of 85, Dorothy moved off the farm and into the River’s Edge Villa in St. Louis, SK. Here she made a home for herself, making many friends and memories along the way. She kept the staff and residents on their toes with her quick wit and many jokes.
The family would like to thank the staff of River’s Edge Villa for taking such great care of Granny in the last years of her life. Also, thank you to Dr. Lotz and the Homecare staff for the end-of-life care.
Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, Highway 2 South. In lieu of other tributes donations in memory of Dorothy may be directed to https://www.cancerfoundationsask.ca
