Dorothy Roy

Dorothy Roy (nee McGillivary) was born on Sunday, December 21, 1947, in Cumberland House, SK, to Mary Jane and Joseph McGillivary. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 72 years, with her family by her side.

Dorothy grew up in Cumberland House, SK, all her life and attended school there. She met her soulmate, Cyril Roy, in Prince Albert, SK, and started their life together. They were married on February 11, 1969. They were blessed with three children, and one adopted daughter.

Dorothy was passionate about her work in Health and Addiction Services.

She was a very supportive wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed taking the youth out to the youth camps with her husband. And she took all her nieces and nephews as her own. She was very concerned about the care of foster children and always had a place at her home for them.

Dorothy liked to visit with her friends and family. While residing in Prince Albert, SK. She had a lot of close people dear to her heart, Louisa Buck, Richard McKenzie, Sheila Chaboyer, Melanie, Virginia Bear, and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Roy, and too many numerous to mention. Dorothy had nicknames for all her family and friends.

She loved to travel and take trips with her family, sisters, and her beloved husband.

She carried on her legacy through her children and grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her loving family, her children, Edward (Debbie) Roy: his children, Amber, Raven, Jade; and his grandchildren, Zaine Logan, J.J.; Clem Roy (Norma): his children, Nikkita, William, Clem Jr. (Syerra); and his grandchildren, Kyle, Harlow, Gabriel; Sheryl (Keith) Silbernagel: Brendan, Brady, Bailey, Sienna Belle Rae, Kenleigh; Betsy (Willard) Thomas: Mia, Mary, Mateo; and her grandchildren, Abby Avril, Ava, Talo; her brothers, Joseph (Suzette) McGillivary, James McGillivary of Cumberland House, Winston McGillivary of Vancouver, BC; her sisters, Bella McGillivary of Cumberland House, SK, Agnes (Norman) Michelle of Prince Albert, SK, Harriet (Louie) Burns Nipawin, SK; her in-laws, of Île-à-la-Crosse, SK: T.J. Roy (Liz), Louis (Theresa) Roy, Cammy Roy, Dorothy (Jimmy) Roy, Barb (Russel) Roy, Delores Roy, Jessy (Joe) Corrigal. She was predeceased by her husband, Cyril; her parents, Mary Jane & Joseph McGillivary Sr.; her siblings at infancy; her in-laws, Mary & Amable Roy, Eddy, Armond, Margaret.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, and all who shared in her life.

A Visitaition will be held for Dorothy at 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK; the Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, October 5, 2020, at Nisto Awasisak Memorial School, in Cumberland House, SK, Cannon Rev. Park Buck officiating. Cremation to follow, with interment at a later date at Cumberland House Cemetery.
