MILLIS, Dorothy “Dot” Matilda
1921 – 2013
Dorothy passed away peacefully on April 10, 2013 in Prince Albert at the age of 92. She was born March 14, 1921 in Wakaw, to Mike and Katherine Kungle, the oldest daughter of 5 children. She married Clarence Paul Millis on November 11, 1944. Dorothy worked at several places of employment before her marriage, but most notably during the war she worked on the Tiger Moth airplanes. A highlight for her was to have her picture taken this past summer with one of the remaining Tiger Moth planes in Canada. She and her sister Edie also worked at the small arms plant in 1942 to 1943 in Ontario. Dorothy was famous for her warm heart and her many many meals prepared at the drop of a hat for anyone and everyone. She loved cooking, and continued to read recipe books and cook full meals until her hospitalization in March. Her German heritage was evident in special foods enjoyed by many. Dorothy’s kindness was magnetic. In her late 80’s she wrote her memoir, filled with stories of growing up during the depression, and her love of gardening. Summer of 2012 saw a bountiful amount of garden produce, lovingly canned for all to enjoy. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Paul; daughter Paulette (Doug); sons David (Lenore), Stacy (Mardell), and Jay; grandchildren Cory Smith (Noah and Ethan), Reagan (Kim) Smith (Dixon, Mckinley, Kieran, Nigel), Cecil Millis, Jolene Millis (Austin) (Brandon, Jasmine, Kylie and Alanna), Cody Millis, Kimberley Millis, Dustan Millis (Carla), Dean Millis (Angela), Ben Millis (Jackie) and Jody (Chris) Millis (Emma and Ethan); sister Edie (Scotty) Hobson; brother Jim (Maureen) Kungle; she is also survived by special close friends Ann Barton, Bob and Val Dewhurst and numerous valued friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her daughter Holly; brother Mervin; sister Pearl and twin granddaughters. Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Sharon Kuhn officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations can be made to a Charity of Donor’s Choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
