It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother and friend.
She was born Dorothy Christina Walker on September 22, 1930, in Webbwood Ontario. She was a tender-hearted compassionate girl with a deep faith that guided her throughout her life. She was a hardworking homemaker and mother at the farm in Spruce Home where she sewed and baked. She baked wholesome and delicious bread that she made with wheat that she ground herself to make sure it was fresh and healthy for her family. She lived in several places across the country including Saskatoon, Calgary, and Niagara-on-the-Lake, but was drawn to make her home in Prince Albert time and again.
Dorothy was an active evangelizer in the Jehovah’s Witness faith for more than 75 years! She loved to travel when she could. She loved singing and music even though she would be the first to admit she possessed no talents for either. She would still sing along or belt out karaoke tunes at every opportunity. Dorothy had an indomitable and adventurous spirit. She was a gifted storyteller and once even won a talent contest for her original stand-up comedy routine at the Spruce Lodge in Calgary.
She is predeceased by her parents and most of her siblings; Steve Herchak, former husband, and father of her children; her son, James Herchak; her granddaughter Elisa Inez Gendron; and her husband Hank Kelly. She will be sorely missed by her children David Wayne Herchak; Rachel Gendron; and Ruth Herchak; her grandchildren, Tyson Herchak and Tiana Frant; her sister, Elsie (Peter) Coyne; and her dearest friend, Roxanne McLeod.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 2024, at 2pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Prince Albert, SK
Cherished Memories Funeral Services is honored to be entrusted with Dorothy’s care.
