Doris Chester (nee Spence)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend on Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the age of 76. Mom was born in Red Deer Hill District on March 16, 1935. She met Walter Chester and the two were married October 4, 1952. Together they raised four children on a farm south of Prince Albert. She devoted her life to her family. She made every occasion extra special and loved the holiday season. Mom always had a witty sense of humour and had a way of making everyone feel special. Doris loved the challenge of a good card game. She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard. She had a close bond with her brothers Gordon and Harvey. She valued the time spent with family and friends. Mom also enjoyed bingo, gardening and game shows. Mom worked several jobs such as the Metropolitan, the Burger Baron and Lottery Kiosk. She always gave joy and entertainment with whom she worked with. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Walter P. Chester SR; her parents Alex and Winnie Spence; her in-laws Frank and Selvina Chester; her special grandmother Victoria Ann Corrigal; her brothers Gordon, Darrel and Rusty Spence; her brothers-in-law Willard and Harold Chester. Mom is survived by her children Philip (Monica) Chester, Don (Heather) Chester, Shelley (Rick) Williams and Sharron West (Gerry Proulx); her grandchildren Tanya (Jason) Kuntz, Walter Chester JR (Katherine), Tasha and Sasha Chester, Christopher and Jody (Melanie) McLeod, Tyler (Kelsey) Chester, Trevor (LeAnn) Chester, Chad (Niki) Chester, Ashley Chester, Jodie (Steve) Vellieux, Jason Williams (Desiree), Jordon Williams (Melissa), Andrew West (Corrie), Joey West, Beverly (Jason) and Christopher Proulx; her great grandchildren Brandon, Rocky, Cody, Brayden, Katelyn, Evan, Brianna, Emily, Lane, Danika, Taylor, Keirsten, Josh, Isabella, Savannah, Hannah, Kandace and Luke; her brothers Harvey (Eva) Spence and Gary (Carol) Spence; brother-in-law Arnold (Merle) Chester; sisters-in-law Daisy and Louise Chester, Ellen Spence. A special thank you to all the staff from Golden Hill at Herb Bassett and Dr. S. Oleksinski. Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25, 2011 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West with Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Interment will be held at Halcro Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Halcro Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
