On September 7, 2016 Doreen Proulx, late of Prince Albert, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in her home at the age of 68 years. Doreen was born to Mary Vandale and Jake Banman on June 26, 1948 in Clearwater, Big River, SK. Doreen married Robert Frenette on August 21, 1967 in Victoire, SK. Together they farmed in the area and raised three children Marc, Michelle and Shane. Once the children were grown Doreen pursued her education and obtained her Corrections Worker Diploma and a position at the Prince Albert Correctional Centre. Doreen made Prince Albert her home and married Leo Proulx on February 9, 1991. Throughout her life Doreen kept busy with crafts, gardening, cooking, enjoying music festivals and dancing. She enjoyed all of these with the company of family and friends. Her kitchen was always the hub of activity through holidays, celebrations or just a coffee that so many dropped by for. Doreen cherished her family and friends and took great pride in her career but most of all most of all took care of everyone. Doreen retired from corrections in 2013 and she and Leo enjoyed their music festivals, family gatherings and winters in Yuma, Arizona. Doreen leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Leo Proulx; her children Marc Frenette of Prince Albert, SK, Michelle (John) Korzenoski of Sylvan Lake, AB, Shane (Coralea) Frenette of Weldon, SK and their son, Carey Leo; her siblings: Jim (Alanna) Banman, Barbara Hunt, Barbara Bighead (Russell Ahenakew), Diane Martin, Leona Peekeekoot, Coreen (Wally) Duquette, Ronald Peekeekoot, Sherry Ann Peekeekoot; her siblings-in-law Richard (Florence) Proulx, Jerome (Wendy) Proulx, Cyril (Therese) Proulx, Dorothy Proulx, and Jennifer Proulx; her special family, Aunt Janet Rydde, Sandra (Stan) Fontaine, Debbie (Roger) Topping and Greg Rydde; her special uncle, Roy Vandale and Aunt Trudy; Her very special friend, Shirley Brassard and daughter, Karen (Ryan) Hee of Peace River, AB; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Frenette, her parents Jake Banman and Mary Vandale, special uncle Henry Rydde, her siblings, Linda Peekeekoot and Bernice Lachance; her brothers-in-law, Fred Hunt and Clarence Proulx. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 260-25th Street East Prince Albert, SK with Father Roque Concepcion officiating. Memorial donations in Doreen’s memory may be directed to the Prince Albert Palliative Home Care.
