It is with profound sadness that the family of Donna Braaten, late of Saskatoon, SK, announces her passing surrounded by family on July 31st, 2026 – one day before her 90th birthday. Mom was raised in the Paddockwood District with her parents, younger brother Barry, and younger sister Shirley. She was always proud of being born at the first Red Cross hospital. From an early age, helping and caring for others was always Mom’s priority. At age 16, she moved to Birch Hills, working at the hospital as a nursing aid and, during that time, met the love of her life, Gordon.
Mom and Dad spent many treasured years in Prince Albert raising their five children. Our home was filled with love, laughter, and plenty of food from Mom even during tough times. Family was everything to Mom, from her children to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Mom worked as a home care aid for many years and had an incredible gift for caring for others, whether through a warm meal, baking, or a loving hug. In 1989, Mom and Dad moved to Birch Hills and spent 34 years making more precious memories; most memorably, by hosting family at the farm.
Mom was devoted to her family in any way she could and was always supporting her children and grandchildren through the ups and downs of life. She was strong, kind, caring, honest, funny, and warm. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, but her incredible love, kindness, and legacy of helping others will live on in all our hearts.
Donna is survived by her children Susan Boehm (Brian), Cathy Yungwirth (Francis), Tim Braaten (Lynn), Jeff Braaten (Alison), and Karen Braaten (Rex Selby); her grandchildren Jared Boehm (Moriah), Joelle Evans (Daniel), Jana Boehm (Gabriel Ferzli), Todd Yungwirth (Lisa), Amy McCagherty (Sean), Reid Braaten (Lauren Lendvay), Grace Davis (Donald), Benjamin Braaten (Jade Akes), Brett Selby (Morgan), and Celine Selby (Wyatt Arndt); her great-grandchildren Tyson, Scarlett, Jelena, Laura, Luke, Emily, Abigail, Jack, Savanna, Nathan, Logan, Alexis, Zeke, Ember; and her sister Shirley Turley and sister-in-law Doris Scaife.
