On Friday, July 24, 2026, Donald James Code, beloved husband, father, grandfather, relative and friend, passed away at 73 years of age after a courageous struggle with cancer in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Don was born on April 6, 1953, on a farm in the Swathmore District, and attended school in Unity, Saskatchewan. He met the love of his life, Colleen Sampson, at Camp Rayner 4-H Camp in Lake Diefenbaker. They were married four years later, on August 16, 1974, in Birch Hills.

They initially resided in Moose Jaw, where Don attended Technical School studying Administration. Their son, Paget, was born in 1980 while in Dalmeny. Their daughter, Jillian, was born in 1983 while in Cudworth, Saskatchewan. They spent the last 42 years in Prince Albert where they raised their family. Don and Colleen would have celebrated their 53^rd wedding anniversary this August.

Don worked for the Credit Union system for 40 years with branches throughout the province including Whitewood, Fort Qu’Appelle, Dalmeny, Cudworth, and Prince Albert. He served for a number of years as a member of the Credit Union Managers Association. He both began and ended his career with Conexus.

Don was a very active member of every community in which he lived. He routinely volunteered for his children’s activities as a leader, or coach, but typically as the treasurer. He was very involved with St. David’s Anglican Church and served as the treasurer of the Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan for 23 years. In 2014, he received the Order of Saskatchewan for his contributions.

Don served on many boards throughout his life, most prominently, the Prince Albert Parkland Health Board, the 3S Health Board, and most recently as a delegate for the Lake Country Co-op. In his retirement he also dabbled in various careers as an auditor with Saskatchewan Credit Unions, a car wash attendant at 6^th Avenue Car Wash, and as an attendant with Gray’s Funeral Home.

Don was quick-witted, kind-hearted, had a dry sense of humour, and was someone people liked to be around. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid curler and golfer, and spent most of his summers at Waskesiu Lake enjoying his camper and boat. He also loved to travel when the opportunity arose, and took many vacations with his family.

Don will be remembered by his loving wife, Janice Colleen Code; son, Paget (Pauline) Code, and their children, Francesca, Davis, Penelope, and Draven; daughter, Jillian (Chris) Mayoh, and their children, Liam, and Jonas.

He is also survived by siblings-in-law, Hugh (Lynn) Sampson, Tanis (Reg) Quaale, Karen (Dale) Pratt; his brother, George (Sophia) Code; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, James and Martha Code; parents-in-law, Paget and Lenora Sampson; and his niece, Danielle Markling.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Plaza 88, located 888 Central Avenue, Prince Albert. Please use 1^st Avenue entrance. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations in Donald’s name can be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society, or the Rose Garden Hospice.
