Donald Thomas Furber passed away peacefully at home in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, on September 22nd,2021, at the age of 72.
He was born in Rosetown on May 7th, 1949, and raised in Smeaton, SK. In the summer of 1968, he met the love of this life Darlene in Kindersley, SK. Sixteen months later, they married. They briefly lived in Kindersley and Saskatoon before calling Prince Albert their home in 1974. They had three sons, Derrick, Darcy, and Dion. Don worked for CN for 38 years. Donald’s greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren, watching them participate in sports, teasing them relentlessly, playing cards, and joking with them constantly.
He worked tirelessly as a volunteer for youth and senior curling and the NDP. He was famous for putting up election signs. Don also took great joy from his involvement in sports, especially his years spent scouting for the Regina Pats and Prince Albert Raiders. Anyone who knew Donald knew his passion for his favourite teams: the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Rangers, Oakland A’s, and Sacramento Kings. His love for these teams lives on through his children and grandchildren.
Lance Furber, his father, Edna Furber, his mother, and his grandparents Thomas Furber and Alice Maebry predeceased Don. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 52 years, Darlene Furber (née Miller); sons Derrick (Janet), Brooklynn (Evan), Camryn (Ethan), and Jaelyn; Darcy (Michelle), Caitlyn and Zoë; Dion (Christine), Brandon, Alyssa (Ryley), and Elyse.
Don was a kind, gentle soul who was so giving of himself. Don’s kind-hearted nature lives on in the hearts of his family. He is loved by all.
