Donald Robert BROWN
July 20, 1945 – January 1, 2018
It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of Donald Robert Brown, of Prince Albert, SK on January 1, 2018 at the age of 72, after a short courageous hard-fought battle with cancer. Through his short battle his family was constantly by his side until his last day. Don was the 2nd of 4 boys to John and Doreen Brown on July 20, 1945. Don completed business college in 1967 and immediately went to work at the Prince Albert Pulp Mill, a career that he thoroughly enjoyed right up until he retired. On February 17, 1968 Don married his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life Edna Read, and during their marriage they had 4 children. Don was a true family man, everything revolved around his family and Don loved and cherished them all very dearly. Don was a very avid (vocal) fan and supporter of his Prince Albert Raiders. He also enjoyed curling, bowling, dancing and jiving in his younger and middle years with his wife Edna. Don would always make time for helping others and wouldn’t hesitate to put others needs before his own. He enjoyed helping to work on cars and would be called the best dressed mechanic, as he usually always wore dress pants and that’s how he would show up to help work on a vehicle. Don also enjoyed gardening, but most of all Don and Edna’s favorite pastime was visiting and spending time with family and friends. Don, Edna, Connie, Curtis and Cory would spend years of summer holidays at Murray Point Campground with Don’s parents John and Doreen. Highlight of every summer would be when all the family gathered for the 3 generations of birthdays on August 6th. John, Allan and Cory were all born that day. They also travelled out west frequently for holidays and to visit family which Don always enjoyed. Don also shared the love of hockey with his children and grandchildren by coaching hockey and helping where he could. You could find Don spending countless early morning and weekends at the rinks. Don was a man of strong Christian faith and he and Edna passed this on to their children. Don’s kind and loving heart will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Don is survived by his loving mother Doreen Brown of Prince Albert; childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 50 years, Edna Brown; daughter Connie Brown (James Zwack) of Saskatoon; son Curtis (Rhonda) Brown of Prince Albert; his beloved brother Herb (Lana) Brown of Mission, BC; sister-in-law Trudy Brown of Prince Albert; brothers-in-law Norman Read of Prince Albert; Bill and Carol Redekopp of Prince Albert; his grandchildren Brett Brown of Prince Albert, Matthew Carrier (Katlyn) of Wakaw, Jordan Brown (Olympia) of Prince Albert, Renee Carrier (Jesse) of Prince Albert, Brody Brown (Megan) of Prince Albert, Santanna Brown of Warman; Logan Dubbs (Britney) of Prince Albert, Shelby (Laura) Ervin of Dallas, Texas; great grandchildren Gage Ervin, Paisley Ervin, Cameron Dubbs, Laureen Dubbs, Hunter Carrier, Clair Ervin, Hillary Dubbs and Natalie Carrier.
