Donald “Don” Robbie April 15, 1945 – March 2, 2025 Donald Robbie, beloved husband of Valerie of
Albertville, SK., passed away in his sleep at home on March 2, 2025 at the age of 79. Don was
predeceased by his parents, Cliff and Ruby Robbie, sister Violet. Valerie’s parents Thomas and Stella
Fidler, Sister in law- Emma Durston, Brothers in law Bill Durston and Sonny Fidler.
April 15,1945 at Rosetown Hospital Clifford and Ruby Robbie welcomed a nearly 10 pound red haired
son, Donald Clifford Robbie into the family. Don rode horse with his brother Bill to a one room Rowena
school. In 1953 years of riding a bus began, continuing education at Howard Powell and then Rosetown
High School. Don continued his education in Edmonton taking a mechanics course, then working as a
mechanic in Rosetown, Kamloops and Lloydminster.
Growing up Don was involved in the 4H Club, growing a variety of crops. Kept active playing ball in the
summer and curling in winter. Many hours were spent on the hills tobogganing with family and friends.
Don was always busy on the farm milking cows, field work, rock picking, bailing, etc.
November 6,1974 Don married Fay Lecomte. Lisa and Kim became his step children. A love for the land
saw Don become a farmer, he farmed till 1978. Employment with Sask. Wheat Pool resulted in moves to
a few locations. Preeceville, Plenty, Dodsland, Plato, Zealandia, Major and Melfort.
Don advanced and became an auditor for Viterra across the province. Don moved to Prince Albert where
he met his soulmate, the love of his life Valerie. They married on August 6, 2011 at their home in
Albertville.
After retiring from the grain business Don worked at Home Hardware in PA. His knowledge of building
and repairing were an asset. Don loved to build, repair, tear down and repurpose. Love of the land
showed in the bountiful gardens Don grew and shared with others. Don was always there to help anyone
in any way he could. Always caring for everyone. Spending time with Valerie, be it watching curling,
camping, going for a drive made his day.
Don is survived by His loving wife Valerie, Valerie’s extended family.
Step daughter Lisa (Trent) Schell, children Brennan, Ethan, Selena, Mark, Mason Step daughter Kim,
children Nathan, Jasmine, Danielle.
Don’s brothers William (Myrtle) Robbie, Ken (Rae) Robbie, sister Sharon (Bob) Johns, nieces and
nephews.
Special cousin Verne Robbie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 330 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel,
130 – 9th Street East, Prince Albert. Luncheon to follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion,
downstairs, 133 – 8th Street East, Prince Albert, elevator is available, Interment at a later date.
