KENNEDY, Dixie Lee (nee Gordon)
October 20, 1965- September 14, 2014
Dixie passed away at the age of 48 at her home in Prince Albert. She was born at Saskatoon City Hospital. She attended Victoria School and Aden Bowman Collegiate where singing and music were an important part of her life. She attended Calvin-Goforth Presbyterian Church, participating in Christmas concerts, Sunday School and Junior choir. She enjoyed being in a Brownie Troop. She looked forward to family gatherings for every holiday. When she was finished her schooling, she worked at the Saskatchewan Abilities in Saskatoon where she met the love of her life, Earl Kennedy. They married and moved to Prince Albert, where Dixie and Earl worked at the Prince Albert Saskatchewan Abilities Council. They were happily married for 20 years. Dixie will be remembered for her remarkable memory and deep chocolate brown eyes. She was a proud Aunt and would faithfully phone her nieces and nephews to wish them a “Happy Birthday” every year. She was predeceased by: her in-laws Laura and Edgar Kennedy; brother-in-law Ivan; sister-in-law Gail Delorme; her older brother Jack Gordon; her parents Scottie and Eileen Gordon; grandparents Jack and Bertha Gordon and Roy and Florence Weir; Aunt Linnie Weir and Uncle Gordon Weir. She is survived by her loving husband Earl Kennedy; Earl’s brothers and sisters Linda (Henry) Mourot, Brent (Melody) Kennedy, Barry (Sandie) Kennedy, Rachelle (John) Schloegel, numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Esther Kennedy-Mattson; brother Roy Gordon; brother-in-law Gary Delorme; sister and brother-in-law Tammy Gordon-Dirks and Jerry Dirks as well as her nephews Spencer and Dexter Gordon-Dirks. The Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk officiating. Interment will be held at South Hill Cemetery. Although her time here was brief, she was loved and will be missed.
