It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Diane Fournier (nee Mitzel). Diane will be lovingly remembered by her husband Denis, children Robert (Isabelle), Barry (Shelley) and Colette (Geoff), grandchildren Justin, Chantelle, Luke and Jonah, sisters Brenda (Randy) and Cheryl, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Diane was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Irene Mitzel, and infant brother Terry Mitzel. Diane was born in Victoria, BC on June 30, 1944. After her father returned from overseas service to begin his teaching career, they lived in several rural communities including Marshall, Spalding and Grasswood. In 1955, they moved to Muenster. She graduated from High School in 1962, at which time she moved to North Battleford, living at the Saskatchewan Hospital Nursing Residence. It was there that she met the love of her life, Denis, whom she married in 1964. They moved to Prince Albert in 1965, where she dedicated herself to raising her children. She also pursued and completed her Certificate of Social Work in 1985. Mom was the heart of the family, and enjoyed entertaining and spending time with her extended family and friends. She loved especially summers spent at the lake, where she fished, boated and enjoyed evening campfires. Her exceptional cooking and baking skills were appreciated by everyone. Mom’s Christian faith was an inspiration for the entire family. She will be remembered for her kind and warm spirit. Throughout her life, she demonstrated an unequaled strength of character, determination and perseverance in the face of tremendously difficult health challenges.
