Dhipak Singh Dookhun
October 19, 1960 – February 7, 2025
Dhipak “Deek” Singh Dookhun of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan passed away at home on February 7th, 2025 at the age of 64 years old. Dhipak was born on October 19th, 1960 in Durban, South Africa to Ranjith “Dook” Dookun (Predeceased) and Kamala “Kay” Dookhun (Surviving). They immigrated to Canada as a family when Dhipak was 7 years old. While Canada became his physical home, his heart always belonged to the beautiful land and people of South Africa. Dhipak graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts and Advanced Political Science Degree, a Bachelor in Education, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Administration. Dhipak spent the majority of his career teaching at the Wesmor Public High School in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan from 1998-2017. Before Wesmor, Dhipak served as a Vice Principal at the Arthur Pechey Public School and Vincent Massey Public School. Prior to that he taught at Vickers Junior High School in Prince Albert, PA Central Institute and Beauval Indian Education Center in Northern Saskatchewan.
Dhipak loved teaching and was devoted to his students. As a result, he was the proud recipient of many educational awards throughout his career. In his free time he volunteered with the Buckland Fire and Rescue, and the Correctional Services in Prince Albert. After his retirement from teaching, Deek became head of security at various establishments in Prince Albert. He loved the thrill of skydiving and had an impressive ledger of jumps. He was also passionate about sports cars. Dhipak had a great sense of humor and could put a smile on almost anyone’s face. He was a devoted son and father, and was steadfast in caring for his parents as they aged.
Dhipak will be deeply missed by his mother, Kamala Dookhun; his daughter, Akshya Dookhun Moch; and his son-in-law, Terrence Moch; along with his many close family members and loved ones in South Africa and Canada.
A private family service was held as he wished.
