It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dennis Franks announce his passing on Saturday May 4th, 2019 at Candle Lake, Saskatchewan. Dennis was born on June 29, 1945, to George and Eunice Franks, and raised on the family farm near Tuxford, SK. His high school years were spent at Riverview Collegiate in Moose Jaw. On October 4, 1969, Dennis married the love of his life, Judy in which they spent an amazing 49 years together. Through those years they embarked on a life of many adventures, the most significant of those being the raising of their three sons, Kelly, Kevin, Ryan and daughter Lisa in Moose Jaw. Dennis was a Science and Phys Ed teacher, inspiring and motivating thousands of grade 6 students until his retirement in 1999. As a teacher, Dennis was involved in many extracurricular school activities including gym club, outdoor education, canoe club, and the ‘Killer’ obstacle course. Outside of school Dennis was very involved with coaching competitive gymnastics at the YMCA, the White Track Ski Club, and Search and Rescue. Together, Dennis and Judy built two family homes in Moose Jaw, and renovated their home at Candle Lake where they retired. He was also always willing to assist with the renovations of his children’s homes. Dennis and Judy also loved to travel the world, mostly cheering on their daughter, Lisa Franks, at the Sydney, Athens, and Beijing Paralympic Games. Dennis loved the outdoors and Candle Lake was the perfect retirement location for more adventures with his friends and family. He loved snowmobiling, quading, fishing, boating, seadooing, golfing and getting to Dave and Mary’s further North in Saskatchewan. Dennis was also active volunteering with the Parks and Rec Trails committee, Search and Rescue, Sno Drifters and Curling Club.
Dennis was a family man and will be lovingly remembered by his wife: Judy; son: Kelly (Melissa Hampson) and grandchildren, Colton, Kyla, Lucas and their mother: Tara Franks; son: Kevin Franks; son: Ryan Franks and grandchildren, Alex and Carolyn; daughter Lisa Franks; brother: Derek (Crystal) Franks; sisters: Gwen Franks, Kathy (Larry) O’Brien and their families.
