It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Dennis Garry Deschambeault on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the age of 71, at the Victoria Hospital with his family by his side.
Dennis spent a long six months in the hospital, courageously facing numerous complications with strength and determination, always surrounded by the love of his family.
Dennis was the beloved son of John and Laura Deschambeault. He leaves behind his loving wife, JoAnne; and their three children: daughter, Laura-Lee (Roger), son, Dennis (D.J.) (Tasha), and daughter, Kimberly (Mark). Dennis will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Keegan, Brady, Jayann, Halo, Damian, Mason, Zoee, and Sawyer.
He is also survived by his sisters, Lillian Umpherville and Yvonne Shier (Jerald); his brother, Gerald Deschambeault (Margaret); brothers-in-law, Garry Smith, Lenard Smith (Olga), Brian Smith (Crystal), and Melvin McKay; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents, John and Laura Deschambeault; brothers, Wilfred, Victor, Harold, Mac, Ben, and Marcel Deschambeault; sisters, Betty Deschambeault, Lorraine Deschambeault, Kathleen Cunningham, Josephine Fiddler, and Myrtle McKay; parents-in-law, Raymond and Verna Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Murray Smith, Jerry Smith, Doreen Smith, Harold Cunningham, Jane Umpherville, Edna Deschambeault, Ingram Umpherville, and Charlie Fiddler.
In his good days, Dennis was known as a hard worker. He took great pride in his work as a custodian for the Sask Rivers School Board, and later continued in similar roles at South Hill Mall and Walmart, working night shifts. He also worked alongside Fred Soderlund installing swimming pools and doing carpentry work.
Dennis was a proud member of the Legion and the Army & Navy, and later became an active member of the Métis Nation Local 269. Above all, Dennis’s greatest passion and deepest love was his family.
The Celebration of Dennis’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, November 7, 2025, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK.
