It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Joseph Frenette on Saturday, December 5, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Denis was born on October 8, 1939 in the district of Pascal near Victoire, SK, and then moved to Spiritwood and Prince Albert. After working for the Scotiabank for a few years, Denis joined the Royal Canadian Airforce. He received his wings in March of 1961 and married his sweetheart Yvonne Doucette on March 6, 1961 and a new journey that took him all across Canada and around the world began. After 35 years in the service Denis and Yvonne chose to retire close to family in Prince Albert. After retiring Denis continued to fly with the 435 Squadron out of Edmonton for a week a month for two years. He then served as a dispatcher coordinating water bombers for fighting forest fires and for many years as a school bus driver. Denis loved his work as a navigator, and search and rescue member for the Airforce, but more than anything he loved his family. He will be fondly remembered for always saying “all my most favorite people are here with me”. Denis is survived by his wife Yvonne of 54 years and their children Monique (Garnet), Michele (Darryl) their sons Daniel (Andrea) and Sean (Megan), Nicole (Paul) their children Alexandrea, Jacqueline and Jacob and son Robert; his great-grandchildren Lily and Xavier Brooks; his siblings Denise (Gilbert) Bremner, Lucille Doucette, Carmen Ruszkowski, Rita Ruszkowski, Marcel Frenette, Paulette (Leo) McGilllvaray; Aunt Clem Harry and his many nieces and nephews. Denis was predeceased by his parents Romeo and Laurette; his in-laws Alfred and Blanche Doucette; a sister in infancy Pauline; his brother Gil Frenette; his sisters-in-law Jeannette Frenette and Mary Frenette; his brothers-in-law Clarence Ruszkowski, Leon Doucette and Tommy Ruszkowski. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Interment will take place at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the staff and nurses of the Herb Bassett Nursing Home for the care and compassion given to Denis.
