Deborah Ann Palmer
October 4, 1955 ~ January 19, 2020
Deborah Ann Palmer nee Oler (Debbie). Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 64 in the city of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan on January 19, 2020. She was born on October 4, 1955 in Brooks, Alberta. She was predeceased by her parents Joann Gallup and Dalmon Allen Oler, and by her grandparents. Deborah was their first child and sister their two other children Kendal Oler and Jane Blackmore, and eldest sister to 44 other siblings. She was the beautiful mother to her children Memory Pierson and her husband Bill Pierson; Jamison Quinton and his partner Robyn Nagy; Timothy Quinton and his wife Theresa Quinton; Jolene Generoux and her partner Ryan Hughes; Merlin Palmer and his wife Bonny Palmer; Stephanie Bear and her husband Chad Bear; Ryan Palmer and his and mom’s partner in crime Stephanie Oler; and Montana Palmer and his fiance Ysabel Gallegos. She was a wonderfully quirky grandmother to Curtis Pierson, Shelly Pierson, Tabatha Oler, Jesica Pierson, Allen Pierson, Eleana Quinton, Aidan Quinton, Deanna Quinton, Connor Quinton, Jadyn Rayner, Lucas E. Quinton, Lucas W. Quinton, Logan Quinton, Keigan-Courage Generoux, Hannah Generoux, Emma Palmer-Bear, Chase Bear; and, great-grandmother to Azoth and Ia Pierson, Liara and Oliver Robarts, McKenna Oler and one on the way. She also loved all of her nieces and nephews who meant so much to her and of course all of her honourary children, grandchildren and family and friends she collected along her way.
Deborah has accomplished so much during her time on her Mother Earth. Her family was and always will be her world and she would and did do anything for them! She sacrificed and worked so hard for her children for whom she has left a legacy of power and strength! This amazing woman is a published author of “Keep Sweet: Children of Polygamy” and other works. Her advocacy work and life was memorialized in a documentary called “Leaving Bountiful”; after which, she was a consultant in the film “In God’s Country”. After finishing her Diploma in Correctional Studies at SIAST, Prince Albert, Deborah was then employed at Pinegrove Correctional Centre as a Corrections Officer for many years until her passing. However, her real passion in life was her work in being a lifelong advocate and defender for women and children who did not know the power of their own voice, strength and freedoms. We know there are so many who would want to thank her for her help, including her own family and children. Her family would like to invite you to join them in celebrating their beautiful mother’s life during a service for family and friends from 2 – 4 p.m. and a come and go luncheon from 5 – 8 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Muskoday Band Hall on Highway 3 Southeast of Prince Albert. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to help offset the funeral costs by e-mail transfer to stephanieoler123@gmail.com or at the service in person. You are free now mother! Spread your wings and fly with your freedom and our love!
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729.
