David Thomas Hewko passed away at home on Sunday, August 19, 2012 at the age of 68 years. David was born on February 22, 1944 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He worked for over thirty years at Kinsmen Workshop now known as Kin Enterprises in Prince Albert retiring at 65. As a youth David played baseball and as an adult was an avid fan of the Toronto Blue Jays. He also enjoyed reading and listening to music. He had a deep faith, which was of comfort to him. David enjoyed spending time with family and friends. For the past ten years, David resided with Cathy and Alfred Grimard. The family is truly grateful for their love and care of him. David will be dearly missed by his sisters Mary (John) Litwin of Leduc, Alberta and Eleanor Simonson of Prince Albert. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins in Canada and the United States. He was a gentle brother, who will be missed by all who knew him. David was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Bernice Hewko; his brothers Edward, Joseph and Stanley Hewko and by his sisters, Alice Smith and Helen Hewko. He was also predeceased by his brothers-in-law Albert Smith and George Simonson and nephew Tony Litwin. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 31 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Parish – 260 – 25th Street East by the Reverend Father Roque Concepcion. Interment will take place in the South Hill Cemetery. It is the family’s request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Victoria Hospital Foundation – Box 3000, Station Main, Prince Albert, S6V 5T4.
