Darwin Alexander, beloved husband of Kathy Alexander (nee MacDonald), passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the age of 66 years after a long illness. Darwin was born April 8, 1955 in Prince Albert. Growing up, his family lived in the Holbein area for most of his life. The family moved to Rainy River, ON when he was four. A year later, they moved back to Holbein and the family settled 1 mile east of Holbein where he lived until he was 17. Darwin attended Shellbrook School until grade 10.
Darwin and Kathy were married on December 2, 1972 in Prince Albert. The following year they welcomed Scott into their lives, followed by Curtis 8 years later. Darwin and Kathy stayed in the Holbein and Prince albert area except for a short time in 1984 when they moved to Grande Prairie, AB for 2 years. When they moved back, they bought an acreage 2 miles north of Holbein and lived there until 1996. They later moved into Holbein, where they still reside.
Darwin enjoyed watching hockey and baseball, camping, boating, quadding and hunting. He enjoyed family gatherings as he liked to visit and talk with everyone. He was quite a social butterfly.
Darwin had various jobs in his life. He worked for the Department of Natural Resources in Prince Albert. He went on to be a truck driver, both short and long haul across Canada and the States. He drove cement truck for Trumix concrete and Weldon concrete for a few years. Darwin also worked at Action Transmission for 7 years until the call of truck driving appealed to him again. A few years later, when his health started to decline, he retired at age 54.
Along with his loving wife Kathy, Darwin is survived by his two sons, Scott (Jessica) Alexander of Holbein and Curtis (Melissa) Alexander of Lloydminster; his grandchildren Regina and Brayden of Holbein, and Rydin, Brianna and Emily of Lloydminster. Darwin is also survived by his brother, Edwin (Phyllis) Alexander of Campbell River, BC; sisters, Kim (Lonney) MacDonald of Holbein, Adrienne and Nicole Alexander of Saskatoon, and Alyshia (Devin) Hind of Martensville; his in-laws Carol (Gordon) Mathers, Betty (Tim) Deck, Stan (Ina Thomas) MacDonald, Donald MacDonald, Darlene MacDonald and Bonnie Geisbrecht; his Aunts and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
