Darryl Michael Boyko peacefully passed away on February 6, 2023, at his residence in Calgary, AB.
Darryl is survived by his mother, Antoinette (Toni) Boyko; his sister, Shannon Boyko-Zoerb; his niece, Sidney Boyko-Zoerb; his nephew, Braydin Boyko-Zoerb; his son, Dylan Savory; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and work family.
He was predeceased by his father, Mike Boyko; his grandparents, Paul Boyko, Polly Boyko, Mike Harmatiuk, Annie Harmatiuk; his brother-in-law, Lee Aaron Zoerb; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Darryl was born May 28, 1967, in Prince Albert, SK. Darryl resided n Prince Albert, SK, as a child, he stood beside his father teaching him under the hood mechanics in his rubber boots, and like every other busy boy playing in the mud, Darryl started his school years in Prince Albert. First at Queen Mary School, to Princess Margaret, Berezowsky, Riverside, Carlton, and St. Mary’s, making many good friends on that journey. Then came the sports in the summer, playing softball for East End, and hockey for the East End Rangers, which he played hockey from the age of 6, wanting to be a professional hockey player.
Darryl started working in his young teen years with Arsan Pilon in the bush, and then Romanchuks. In the mid 90’s he took on a roll working with a good friend named Cory Crawford at PA Soundworks, but still had his passion for his cars. Darryl began working at Northway, but then his new journey began when he wanted to move to Calgary, AB, as a paver with Standard General, Calgary Paving, Southwood Paving and Drilling. He also worked for Lowcost Paving and Lambert Paving.
Darryl was humble, loving, kind, and a giving person. He would give the shirt off his back, and he lived a simple lifestyle off of basic needs, nothing fancy. As we all know, Darryl was very political, just like his father, he stood up for what he believed in, and didn’t have a problem voicing his opinion. He was a genuine, good-hearted soul who loved his family and friends. All those that knew him will miss his sense of humour and laughter.
