Darleen Charlotte Hyndman
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother and friend, Darleen Charlotte Hyndman. Darleen passed peacefully at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK on November 22, 2024, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Darleen is survived by her daughter, Celeste Gatin and grandchildren Anika Lafitte, Evan Lafitte, and Siobhan McKinney; her two sons, Darrell Gatin (Paula) and Greg Gatin (Hee Jung); and her brothers, James Beer, Frank Raffard and Reg Paice.
She is predeceased by husbands, Adolphe Gatin and Ronald Hyndman; parents, Elie and Nellie Raffard; sister, Jean Plosz and brothers, Stanley and Wayne Raffard.
Darleen was born in Broadview, SK, on February 4, 1946, and grew up on the family farm northwest of Whitewood. She attended Park School and Whitewood School. On August 1, 1964, she married Adolphe and settled in Whitewood helping with his plumbing and heating business. With Adolphe’s passing in 1978, Darleen worked two jobs to raise her three young children.
In 1983 Darleen remarried with Ronald Hyndman and in 1985 the family moved to Prince Albert. She worked briefly in real estate before finding her true calling as a Continuing Care Aid in 1994. She worked many years at Pineview Terrace in PA before finally retiring in 2021.
Darleen loved spending time with her family, fishing at local lakes and lunches with her girlfriends. She was an avid sports fan cheering on her “darn” Toronto Maple Leafs, the Canadian Women’s Hockey team and her favorite curlers. Family and friends will always remember her sharp sense of humour and her dedication for the hundreds of Pineview residents she lovingly cared for over the years.
Darleen’s family wishes to express its heartfelt thanks to all who cared for her at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital, Saskatoon Royal University Hospital, Rosthern Hospital and the Prince Albert Rose Garden Hospice.
A Celebration of Darleen’s Life will be held at The Prince Albert Heritage Center, 1211 1st Avenue West, Prince Albert, at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, November 30, 2024.
