Dario Antic

1968 ~ 2023

Dario Steve Antic was born on February 9^th, 1968, in Osijek, Croatia to Violet and Josip Hok.  When he was 5 years old, he immigrated with is mother and stepfather Mario to Regina, Saskatchewan.  He loved to share stories about his early years in Canada going to kindergarten and not speaking a word of English.  It was in such kindergarten class that he met his life long best friend Dave.  From that moment on Dario quickly became a Saskatchewan boy.

Growing up he enjoyed hanging out at the lake, trapping, hunting, and found a love for horses.  Over the early years he went through many careers but the one he always talked about was working community pasture and the rodeos with his Australian Sheppard Wylie.  He later became a body shop painter and started his own business.  With this he was often on the road and that is how he met the love of his life and best friend Pam (Halliday).  He spotted her and knew he had to talk to her, it took him some time to convince her, but she eventually went on a date and the rest is history.  Their love story grew quickly with their mutual love of dogs, horses, and socializing.  She even managed to win over Wylie and that is when he knew he had to marry her.  In July 2015 Dario took Pam back home to Croatia to show her the sights and further share his love of traveling, good drink, and food.  Pam was hooked and soon after returning Dario asked Pam to marry him.

On July 15^th, 2017, they were married in Vodice, Croatia, renewing their vows in October in Prince Albert so that their closest Canadian friends and family could share in their joy.  One thing about Dario is that he loved to entertain but hated to be center of attention.  Many friends and family have been fortunate over the years to enjoy his amazing cooking, pig roasts, and have been able to just sit around having a drink sharing stories.  His door was always open, and he always had something cold for you, made the best coffee, and always cooked a 5-star meal even on a random Tuesday.  Its these times that will be missed the most by those closest to him.  Unfortunately, the last few months his health declined, and with his loving wife by his side he fought a hard battle but had to leave this world on October 16^th, 2023.

He leaves to mourn his wife Pam Antic; step sons Kyle Halliday and Jordan Antic; parents Violet and Mario Antic; sister Sandra (Tim) Proseilo; brothers-in-law Larry (Pauline) Halliday, Kenny (Brenda Pamburn) Halliday, Teddy Halliday, Benny (Bella Sanderson) Halliday; sisters-in-law April (Hans) Skjonsberg, Jenny (Brian McDonald) Halliday, Gail Halliday; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his biological father Josip Hok, parents-in-law Lawrence and Marg Halliday, and brother-in-law Bill Halliday.

Celebration of Dario’s Life will be held on October 28^th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2, Prince Albert, SK with his niece Chrissy Halliday officiating.
