With great sadness and loving memories, the family of Darcy Jonathon Hegland, 54, announces that he passed away in Saskatoon on July 1st , 2018, with his children at his side.
Darcy was born in Prince Albert, November 28, 1962, to Jubelle and Diane Hegland, and was the second of three brothers. He attended school in Prince Albert and after a brief period out of province, he began working in P.A. as a carpenter and cabinet maker. After retraining in computer science, he spent a lot of time in the north, working for the PAGC and later, the Athabasca Health Region. Although he had a lifelong battle with mobility issues, he thrived and loved to be outdoors fishing, driving his quad and spending time with his children and dog. Ongoing health issues forced him to return to Prince Albert in 2017, and he began his battle with cancer.
Darcy lived a life with a love for hockey, nature, his dogs and his children. He was a hard and honest worker, a talented cabinetmaker and overall artist.
Darcy is survived by his three children, Danica, Madison and Tyler Hegland, as well as his beloved husky, Ghost; brother Duane (Jonah, Landon, and Emma), brother Brian; his mother Diane Verot, step mother Paulette Hegland; and his Aunt Myrtle Giles (Lynn, and Barry)
He was predeceased by his father, Jubelle Hegland, Uncle Dennis and Aunt Vivian (Phillip Cromartie, children Crystal and Janel)
A private celebration of Darcy’s life will be held for family and close friends in the coming weeks. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services & Crematory.
