Dale Lloyd Basaraba

BASARABA, Dale, late of Toronto, ON and formerly of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on March 29, 2012 in Toronto, ON at the age of 55 years. Dale is survived by his parents, Mary and Alex Basaraba; his sister Sharon (Bob) Pocha; his nephews Chris (Bonnie) Pocha and Ryan Pocha; his great-nieces Hannah, Brittany and Spencer Pocha; and his best friend Calvin Mullin. Dale was born October 25, 1956 in Prince Albert, SK. Dale graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Prince Albert, and was employed at Safeway during his high school years. Dale then moved to Calgary to attend SAIT. In 1978 he found himself drawn to the city of Toronto, which he called home ever since. Dale was employed as a bartender and bar manager in Toronto, a job he truly loved. He had been in various bowling leagues and loved the pool leagues, both of which he had won many trophies. He had a passion for cooking and making perogies (which he thought everyone should know how to make). He always had friends for Christmas. Dale looked forward to coming home every year in August, so he could spend time with family at Candle Lake. In the past year, he had been diagnosed with COPD and was recently diagnosed with pancreatitis. A Celebration of Life was held on April 1, 2012 in Toronto, ON. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012 at 10 am, at St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Prince Albert, SK with Father Ivan Nahachewsky as Celebrant.
