Curtis was born in Prince Albert, SK on June 20, 1968, and passed suddenly of natural causes at Candle Lake, SK on September 14, 2023. He leaves behind his wife of 30 years Susan (nee Bazarkiewicz), daughters Hailey (fiance Zac Paziuk) and Lindsey Kristian, his parents-in-law Lynne Bazarkiewicz and Brian “Huggy” Halabura, best friends since childhood Mark Suetta and Brad Brule and families, the Kristian, Beardall, Bazarkiewicz and Steedsman families.
Curtis was predeceased by his parents Ben and Maureen Kristian, grandparents James and Lilianne Beardall, James and Julia Kristian, father-in-law Albert Bazarkiewicz, brother-in-law Murray Bazarkiewicz, his best dog Koko, as well as numerous family and friends.
Curtis was born an only child, but never felt alone as he was quick to make friends with many lifelong bonds. He was an active and adventurous child, causing trouble and making memories and stories that his friends still love to share and laugh about today. His love of anything outdoors was passed down to him from his father Ben and grandpa Jim Beardall, hunting, fishing, and adventuring all over northern Saskatchewan and beyond which were the things he loved to do most with his girls and best buddies right until the last day.
Curtis and Susan met in 1985 and married on May 22, 1993, and were each other’s best friend. Moves from Prince Albert, Saskatoon, Calgary and back to where their hearts always were in Saskatchewan in 2000, especially Candle Lake where they spent so many wonderful summers with their girls and extended family and friends. If walls could talk the stories they would tell!
His greatest joy in life were his two daughter, Hailey and Lindsey. He found out on his 28th birthday in 1996 that he was to be a father for the first time and Hailey Lynne was born on February 21, 1997, the day after he came home from his first official shift overseas. After moving back to Saskatchewan, his second daughter Lindsey Maureen was born on August 22, 2001. He shared his love for the outdoors and anything that had a motor in it with them, teaching them how to ride a bike and drive, to shooting game and filleting fish. He also spent time showing them how to play chess, cards and sharing stories with them from his travels working overseas.
He was a Red Seal Millwright and with that trade he began his career in Calgary with Western Valve Services in 1990 and continued to work in the oil industry until an opportunity arose in 1996 for him to work overseas in the Kumtor Gold Mine (Cameco) in Krygysztan until June of 2000. With a move back to Saskatchewan he took a position with Wapaweka Lumber in Prince Albert, SK. When the sawmill closed, he accepted a position in 2008 doing international field service work with Canrig Drilling travelling to over 55 countries and his most current position was field service technicial with Drillform based out of Odessa, Texas. Although is was hard work and he had to spend time away from his family, he loved his job and was very dedicated to his job and the people with whom he worked, he talked of them often.
He left us far to soon, but his memory will live on with those who loved him forever.
A Celebration of Life Social will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Sutherland Hall, 1112 Central Avenue, Saskatoon, SK. Everyone is welcome to attend and share stories and memories of Curtis. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. There will be no internment.
