It is with deep sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Curtis Michael Burant on December 10, 2020 at the age of 54 in Prince Albert, SK. Curtis was born on December 29, 1965 in Yorkton, SK. He attended St. Paul School, St. Joseph Junior High and Sacred Heart High School, located in Yorkton, graduating in 1983. After high school, he was employed at the hometown Loblaws. Curtis decided to move to Saskatoon to pursue an education in industrial plumbing.
He met Kendra in 1990 in Regina, SK through mutual friends and fell in love! After a year’s long distance relationship Kendra felt it was time to really get to know Curtis better! She decided to move to Saskatoon, and the “deal was sealed.”
In 1991, Curtis and his cousin Rick Ohochinsky took a trip to Europe for three months. Their adventure included traveling to France, England, Greece, Italy, Germany, and the Netherlands.
In 1992, Curtis and Kendra moved to Prince Albert. Kendra explored a new job, while Curtis continued to worked as an industrial Plumber in Lloydminster at the Husky Oil Upgrader. He returned to Prince Albert and got a job at Superior Propane. He then secured a job at SaskPower, working there as a Meter Reader, and then as a Stores Person for 23 years until his passing.
Curtis and Kendra spent many of their early years together enjoying camping and fishing trips in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia, travelling to Mexico in the winter.
After ten years together, Curtis and Kendra were married on September 23, 2000. Curtis found a “special” piece of land, north of Prince Albert, and after lots of sweat equity, their dream home was built! In 2008, Curtis and Kendra were blessed with a son named Tynan, and in 2010 were blessed with a brother for Tynan named Keanan.
Living on the acreage, Curtis and Kendra spent lots of outside time with the boys, building large bonfires all most every night, enjoying varies of wild birds, including lots of hummingbirds, and the occasional bear! Curt could be found maintaining the yard, adding to his collection of vintage skidoos or fixing things in the garage! He would often be found in his man cave having a cool one with a friend!
Curtis considered his home a little piece of heaven, his private oasis. Bike rides, volleyball, badminton, basketball, shinny, skating, snowmobiling, hiking, and baseball as family time. Cruising on his motorcycle was one of Curtis’ favorite activities in his early years.
He had a passion for hunting for moose and elk, and looked forward greatly to many memorable trips with his Dad. He had a very close bond with his parents that included weekly chats that could last for hours!
Curtis will be remembered for the immense love of his family. He was a loving, caring, devoted husband and father, soooo incredibly proud of Tynan and Keanan. He loved watching them both play sports, and spent endless hours fishing with them on the local lakes in summer and winter. As a family, they enjoyed annual camping trips across various provinces and into United States. One of his favorite places to spend time was Waskesiu Lake.
As a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, Curtis always had time for family. He always enjoyed the annual Burant family fishing trip in northern Saskatchewan. He was an expert barbecue chef, and liked to host family barbecues on the deck with his newest barbecue or smoker and became quite an impressive outdoor cook.
Curtis was predeceased by numerous aunts, uncles, grandparents, and special friend Rusty Watt. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Kendra, his two sons, Tynan and Keanan; his parents, August and Isabel Burant; his brothers, Kevin (Joanne), Gerald (Kim); and his sister, Lisa (Keith).
