Crawford Wayne Hicks
HICKS – Crawford Wayne Hicks was born February 21, 1940 in Winnipeg, MB. He passed away March 10, 2012 in Prince Albert, SK. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Sharon (nee Balfour) of 50 years. His four children, Roy (Holly) Hicks of Lumsden – Adam, Eric and Jasmine; Rob Hicks of White Fox – Angela and Ashley; Allison Marcotte of Prince Albert – Lise, Joan, Mandi, Wendy and Rebecca; Judy (Jerry) Anderson of Prince Albert – Megan and Tyler as well as numerous great grandchildren. His sisters Irma Duncan of Pitt Meadows, BC; Ann Miller of Regina; Mona(Ken) Johns of Invermere, BC and brother Ken(Mary) Hicks of Regina and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Wayne was predeceased by his son Jimmy Hicks, mother Shirley and father Crawford Hicks; sister Joan Barber; mother and father in law Marge and Shiff Balfour; son in law Larry Marcotte; granddaughter Melody Hicks. Wayne was born in Winnipeg, the second youngest of six children. They moved to Craven, Disley and finally resided in Lumsden until 1996. Wayne did many odd jobs for the family business before joining the Air Force at seventeen years of age. Upon returning from the Air Force he married the love of his life on September 4, 1961. Wayne took over the Esso bulk station from his dad in 1971 where he worked with his sister Ann. He then sold the business in 1977 and worked at the rink for a year before taking a job as assistant town foreman. He retired from this job in 1996 and took up landlording with his son Rob in Regina. Wayne and Sharon moved into Regina in 1996 and after Sharon retired, they moved to Prince Albert in 2008. Wayne loved to hunt, fish, golf and play cards with his family and friends. He also enjoyed the last three years in Lake Havasu where it was warm. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday March 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the Lumsden Centennial Hall, Lumsden, SK, with Donna Fisher officiating. Interment at Lumsden Cemetery with lunch to follow back at the Centennial Hall in Lumsden. In lieu of other tributes, those wishing to place a memorial may do so to the charity of the donor’s choice.
