Mom was born on July 3, 1941, to Rose and Willis Davies, the 5th of 9 children. She went to Pine Valley and Meath Park schools. After graduating grade 10, she moved to Paddockwood, SK to work at the Co-op.
Through her brother, Bill, she met her future husband, Elmer Erickson. They were married on July 10, 1959. They had three girls, Shirley, Margaret, and Donna and farmed just north of Paddockwood, SK, until 1990.
Mom developed an allergy to grain dust, so in 1985 the couple bought a cabin at Candle Lake, SK so that she could escape the dust at harvest. In 1992, Mom and Dad moved from the farm to Candle Lake. Unfortunately, Dad passed away too soon, in 1996.
Mom belonged to the ACW, loved fishing, and enjoyed sports. She also played ball and curled. She followed Donna all over the country to watch competitive curling. A particular love of hers was the Toronto Blue Jays, and mom was thrilled when her daughters took her on a special trip to Toronto take in a couple of games at the Sky Dome. However, the most important things to Mom were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she often said that they were her reason for living.
Mom was a very independent person. She lived at Candle Lake until 2018 when she moved to Prince Albert, SK, where she lived on her own until January 2022. She then moved to Mak Lodge in Prince Albert, SK. During this time her dementia continued to worsen. In the fall of 2022 she moved again, this time to a nursing home in Duck Lake, SK, and finally in 2023 to Pineview Terrance in Prince Albert, SK. She lived there until her passing on January 29, 2025.
She is lovingly remembered by her children, Shirley (Dwight) Sawatzky, and their son, Mason (Bryn) Sawatzky and their daughter, Kadlu; Margie Corriveau, and children, Jason (Roxanne Beaulieu) Corriveau and daughters, Samantha and Erica, Allison (Ryan) Sayers, Aimee (David) Schmirler and their children, Oliver, Emilee and Isabelle, Jeremy (Chelsea Reid) Corriveau and children, Chloe, Mitia and Seth; Donna (Henri) Gignac and children, Anders (Amy) and their children, Ethan Alice and Eva, Terra (Evan) Ulsifer and their children, Lucy-Ann, Holly, and Rory; sisters, Dorothy Newman and Rosemary Sarrison; brothers, Allan (Rosemary) Davies, David (Evelyn) Davies, and Cecil (Linda) Davies; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
