Claude LaHaye

The family announces the peaceful passing of Claude LaHaye on September 5, 2011 at the Good Shepherd Villas.
Claude was born in the district of White Star on December 29, 1916 to Herman and Bernadette LaHaye, he was the seventh child in a family of 10. Unable to afford to go to high school, Dad went out to work to help his parents as times were tough. He worked at various jobs such as Burns and Company, carpenters helper at the Army Barracks, The Pas Lumber Company as a sawyer and most notably the Dairy Pool for 29 years, retiring in 1981 due to ill health.
In 1940 he married Isabel Forrest from Mankota, SK. In 1945 they bought their first quarter section at White Star and farmed there until 1975 at which time they moved to Prince Albert. Claude and Belle were married 71 years and through this union 5 children were born. After retiring, Dad and Mom spent many hours at Anglin Lake during the summers and travelled south to Arizona for 14 winters.
He was instrumental in starting the White Star Snow Plow Club. He was a School Trustee and the President of the Dairy Pool Union for many years. He could be called on to volunteer for many things happening in the community of White Star.
Claude is survived by his wife Isabel; his children Lorraine (Ben) Lemieux, Roland (Judy) LaHaye, Anne (Ley Thompson) McLeod, Jeanette (George Taylor) Earing and Ron (Penny) LaHaye; fifteen (15) grandchildren; twenty-three (23) great grandchildren; four (4) great great grandchildren; as well as step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; his brothers Anthony (Teddy) and Oscar (Norma); his sisters-in-law Adele LaHaye, Jean Cook and Margaret Desroches; his brothers-in-law Stan Dunville and Lou Gagnon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Herman and Bernadette; his son-in-law Bill Earing; his daughter-in-law Lynn (nee Archibald) LaHaye; his brothers Peter, Frank and Jules; his sisters Gabrielle, Rose, Annette and Marie Louise; his brothers-in-law Mayo Poudrier, Joe Paskiwich; Bill Lough, Jim Forrest, Ken Forrest, Ray Desroches and Ray Cook and his sisters-in-law Nellie LaHaye, Ella Lough, Nell Dunville, Shirley Forrest and Josie Forrest.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 260- 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. Interment will be held at White Star Cemetery.
