Chuck Petrigh
1953 – 2013
Chuck passed away peacefully at the Victoria Hospital on Friday, February 8, 2013 with family at his side. He was born on August 30, 1953 in Canebola, Italy to Remigio Petrigh and Bianca Gatti. His real Italian name was Giancarlo, but when Helen met him he said his name was Chuck. When Chuck was 3 years old his family moved to Toronto, ON and a few years later he had a sister Irene and then a younger brother Denny. In 1975 the family moved to Faedis, Italy where Chuck worked for the Coast Guard. Then in 1977 he decided to move back to Canada and chose Thunder Bay, ON to live with his aunt, uncle and cousin. It was in December 1977 that he met Helen Allbright and they married in October 1978. In February 1979 they moved to Prince Albert, SK to be near Helen’s family. In 1980 they had their first son Brandon and then in 1982 their second son Devon was born. During his life in Prince Albert, he mainly worked at Writeway Printing and the Pepsi Plant. When the Pepsi Plant closed down the bottling line in 1990, they decided to move to Calgary, AB and remained there until they moved back to Prince Albert in 2007. Chuck enjoyed music which he played lead guitar in different bands for quite a few years in both Prince Albert and Calgary. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and playing his X-box on line with his two sons. Chuck loved spending time with his sons when they came to visit. When he heard he was to become a grandfather for the first time, his eyes lit up when his grandson Nolan was born and they were even brighter when he became a grandfather for the second time with his granddaughter Olivia. His grandson always called him Bucka. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Helen; his son Brandon Petrigh and his children Nolan and Olivia; his son Devon Petrigh; his mother Bianca Gatti of Italy; his sister Irene Petrigh (Silvano Cella) of Italy; his brother Denny of Italy; his brothers-in-law the Honourable Gerry (Glorya) Allbright and her mother Fay Rushby; Terry Tooley; his sisters-in-law Dorothy Allbright and Patty Allbright; his nephews Kevin (Danielle) Tooley and their children Alena and Isabelle; Mitchell Madariaga; his niece Miren (Geoff) Luczka; as well as other relatives and friends and his two special feline friends Tigger and Summer. He was predeceased by his father Remgio Petrigh; his twin brother Gianfranco; his father and mother-in-law Marshall and Enid Allbright; his sister-in-law Barb Tooley; his nephew Shaun Tooley; and in August 2012 his Old English Sheepdog Bentley of 12 years. A very special thanks to all the staff at Prince Albert Homecare who were a very special and important part of his life for the last 16 months and also to the staff of Level 4 at the Victoria Hospital for the excellent care they gave Chuck the last few days of his life.
