Cheryl Ann Beck (nee Griffin)
July 10, 1962 – Sept 25, 2025
On September 25th 2025 Cheryl passed away. In her final days she was surrounded by family and will be survived by: her husband James, three sons Warren Beck, Evan Beck, and Nolan Beck, her daughter Sarah, and her grandchildren Sidney, Ellie, and Kieran. She also leaves behind her sisters in law, Jenny Beck, Kelly Daniels and Christine Thompson, brother David (Bonnie, Tracey, Bradley, Kirk, Kerry and Mathew) Griffin of Paddockwood, Sister Faye Griffin of Langley, B.C. and brother Bill (Sharon, Zachary and Olivia) Griffin of Prince Albert.
She was predeceased by her Grand Parents Bert and Lavinia Giles, Bill and Hilda Griffin, her parents Fred and Marjorie Griffin and her oldest sister Sandra.
Cheryl grew up in Prince Albert and attended school at Princess Margaret and Carlton. She played basketball, volleyball, and softball and participated in track. After high school she moved to Edmonton and became a slugger in mixed slow pitch leagues. She met her future husband in Edmonton and together built Strathcona Septic Service, now one of the largest Septic Service and Construction companies in Alberta.
Cheryl was an avid hockey, ringette, football, soccer and “whatever else’ mom for all her children. She was an avid fisherman and golfer and in recent years occasionally beat her husband at golf. She cherished her time at Waskesiu, and loved watching her kids, and later grand kids play at Payton and Waskesui Beaches. For the past number of years James and Cheryl wintered in the Manasota Key, Florida where they have many close friends and golfing partners.
During the final stages of her illness James’s sister Chris Thompson helped maintain a 24 hour family presence at her side offering love, comfort and care as only a nurse could. Proof that there are still angels among us.
Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, passionate gardener, fisherman, golfer, artist, musician, and devoted dog mom.
Her memory will live on in her home and garden in Ardrossan, Manasota Key Florida, and Waskesiu Lake.
The family will be holding a celebration of life next spring in Ardrossan for family and friends. If anyone would like to offer condolences or share a Cheryl moment, go to her Facebook page and you can do so or email griffin.wf@sasktel.net and messages will be forwarded to the family.
