In Loving Memory of Charlene Louise Pyper
With heavy hearts, we had to say goodbye to Charlene Louise Pyper, a daughter, a sister, a friend and granddaughter. Charlene is survived by her mother, Shelly Ne Ville, two sisters, Sherilyn (Tyler) Bilodeau and Candace Ne Ville, nieces, Mila and Keira Bilodeau and loving grandparents, Del and Betty Hannah, Uncle Don Hannah, and Aunt Donna Hannah; she is predeceased by her father David, Uncle Bert Hannah. We will greatly miss the presence of such a beautiful soul.
After a long battle with Huntington’s, a disease that too claimed the life of her father, David Pyper, Charlene passed surrounded by family, love and support, January 12th at the tender age of forty in her hometown of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Charlene had a deep love of life and those she was close with. She had a strong desire to help those in need and although fighting her own battles she would put others before herself. Much of her time had been spent volunteering at Mont St. Josephs and working at Victoria Hospital. Always the caretaker. Highly independent and tenacious, she was always on the go and she knew how to get things done. With strength and courage, she got through each day without losing her fighting spirit.
From a young age, Charlene had a love of music and performance. What started as the “Charlene and Sherilyn Show”, with younger sister Candace getting in the way of their musical and dance talents showcased for her parents, she quickly went on to excel in Jazz, Tap and Ballet. Not only did she enjoy dance but, she went on to play multiple sports through her school years including Volleyball and Basketball. With her adoration for music, she naturally fell into song writing with ease, where she could write the songs and Sherilyn could sing them, even if a bit pitchy. No one in the family had much in the way of any vocal proficiency but that did not matter when it came to doing the dishes at night and singing till, they were hoarse or while cleaning up at the cabin and singing all of grandma’s favorites like Wild Turkey.
Charlene loved to have a good time with a twinkle in her eyes ,a smile and laugh that was infectious to all that knew her. Often, she would spend time at her grandparent’s cabin on Christopher Lake, tubing or skiing when grandpa would take everyone out on the boat. Summers there were made for postcards, games on the beach, marshmallows on the fire and family all around.
Afternoons at home were filled with the soapy dramas like that of “Days of Our Lives”, nestled under fluffy blankets, and when she would find her feet still cold, she’d tuck them under the unsuspecting victim much to their shock of “cold toes”. She had no qualms about it and would giggle and smile at you unrepentant. While she could, Charlene lived an active and rich life and though the last years of her life were not for the faint of heart she handled them with dignity and strength. She has and always will have all our love.
At long last can she now rest. The family would like to thank all the management, staff, and residents at Mont St. Joseph for all their friendship and support. Family and friends wishing to send online condolences are welcome to visit www.beaulacfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made on Charlene’s behalf to Mont St. Joseph and or Huntington’s Society of Canada., Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Beau “Lac” Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lorne Adams, Funeral Director, Prince Albert, SK 306-763-3322
