Cecilia Merasty
1942 ~ 2022

Cecilia Jane Merasty was born on April 8, 1942, on the Churchill River, SK, and was the youngest of eleven children. She attended numerous residential schools including Sturgeon Landing, Notre Dame and Labret. She graduated from University of Saskatchewan as a teacher and worked in Fond du Lac, Stanley Mission and Shoal Lake.  In the late 80’s she returned to school to take nursing. She enjoyed travel and joined Doctor’s Without Borders for 9 months in Thailand as a nurse. She loved sports and especially the Blue Jays, which she could talk about with her sister Gertie for hours.

She left this world on March 13, 2022, and leaves her children, Corinne (Michael) Crickmore, Karen (Ron O’Neil) Merasty, Keith Merasty, Perry (Brenna) Merasty; her grandchildren, Brenna, Alexandria, Logan, Maddison, Jonathon (Rachel), Victoria, Ryan, Suri, Brenson, Presley, Payne; her great-grandchildren, Penelope and Aubrey; her sisters, Gertrude Montgrand and Anne Merasty; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and her special niece Cecile Merasty.

She was predeceased by her parents, John & Marie Merasty; her siblings, Adelaide Merasty, Angelique McKay, August Merasty, Catherine Connor, David Merasty, Napoleon Merasty, Thomas Merasty, Veronique Morin; her step-sister, Bella Ray.

A come and go tea will be held at Allan Bird Memorial Center in Prince Albert, SK on Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass for Cecilia will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4 Ave W, in Prince Albert, SK, with Father Roque Concepcion officiating.
