It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Cecilia Arcand on Jan 9 2017 at the age of 89 years. She passed away peacefully at the Herb Bassett home with her family by her side. Born September 29, 1927 in Carlton district to Margaret and John Kometscher she was one of nine children. It was at a country dance in the town of Carlton that she met Adrian Arcand. They had dated for 3 years and were married on June 14, 1945 at Titanic church. Following the marriage they acquired land from Adrian’s father, this is where they built their first home and began their family of 6. Cecilia and Adrian were married for 67 years. Cecilia worked at Whitter Motors, Johnny’s Igloo, Kresges and Coop Cafeteria. She was always a very hard and dedicated worker. She was a very dedicated mother to all her children and loved her family who meant everything to her. She would put everyone first before her own needs, doing anything for anyone. She enjoyed gardening and planting her flowers. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and sewing. She sewed clothing for her children in the earlier years on the farm. She enjoyed camping in the earlier years and family picnics and reunions. There was always much food and fun to be had at the Arcand’s family home on any holidays or special occasions. She is survived by her 5 children Joyce (Rudy) Fiddler, Leslie Arcand, Linda (Gary) Garneau, Raymond (Gloria) Arcand, Leonard (Rose) Arcand. Grandchildren and great grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews and one sister Reta Doucette. She was predeased by her husband of 67 years Adrian Arcand. Her daughter Loretta in infancy. Her parents John and Margaret Kometscher. Great grand-daughter Shae-Lynn Fiddler. Daughter in law Pat Arcand. Sisters Mary Giles, Dorothy Ferland, Marjorie Lanovaz. Brothers Frank Kometscher George Kometscher, Edward Kometscher, Marcel Kometscher. Several sisters- in- law and brothers- in- law. Prayer Service will be at 7:00pm on Friday January 13, 2017. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00pm on Saturday January 14, 2017, both services will be held at St. Michael Roman Catholic Parish 1505-13th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Father Michael Fahlman celebrating. Memorial donations may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
