Cecile “Cec” Huyghebaert (née Engen)
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Cecile “Cec” Huyghebaert on April 7, 2024. Surrounded by family and love, Cec lost her hard-fought battle with cancer.
Cec was born on December 22, 1945, in Prince Albert, SK, to Gilbert and Irene Engen (née Erdman).
Cec will be remembered with love by her partner of 43 years, Dale Simpson; her children, Darcy and Tracey (Wayne); grandchildren, Shaelyn (Logan) and Payton (Ethan); great-granddaughter, Lennon; Dale’s children, Shannon (Liza) and Shawna (Drew); grandchildren, Justin (Megha), Jordan (Daniela), Joshua (Emma), Tyson (Anna), Madison (Josh), and Chase (Raelynne), and great-granddaughter, Ellis.
Cec was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Gilbert and Irene; sister, Darlene; brother, David; brother-in-law, Ken; Parents-in-law, Allan and Olive; sister-in-law, Merilyn; brother-in-law, Ken; and her fur babies, Chico, Montana, and Chevy, who were always by her side.
Cec was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. She attended school at the Convent, St. Michael, and graduated from P.A.C.I.
- Cec had many wonderful memories from growing up. She loved making the trek out to her grandparent’s farm near Spruce Home, SK. They would walk there almost every trip and she loved the walk because she knew the love and joy that was waiting for her. Being an only child, Cec was always anxious to see all her cousins. She loved each and every one of them, they were like sisters to her. She thought of her cousins often and with love. Luckily for Cec, her parent’s house grew by three when Doug, David and Clara May joined the family. She loved each of them with all her heart and was overjoyed to finally be a big sister!
After high school, Cec married John and they had two children, Darcy and Tracey. Cec was so proud of her daughters. She never forgot to tell them how much she loved them and how proud she was of all their accomplishments. In the late 70’s, Cec got a job at The Bay. It was there that she met Dale, with whom she spent the last 43 years with.
Cec was a saleswoman through and through. Her honesty, integrity and personality are what made her so amazing at sales. She worked at Modern Home, Tadmans, and spent 25 years styling a large population of women in Prince Albert at Cleo’s. Cec and Lois were a fashion force the whole 25 years. After retirement, Cec became dedicated to golfing, curling and friendships. The friendships she made will never be forgotten. She was the life of the party and there’s was no doubt about it…. “you got that right!”
Also in retirement, Cec enjoyed being able to spend more time with her family, including her grandkids, and more recently her great granddaughters. GG was loved!!
We will miss her love, laugh, and storytelling, which was second to none. Mostly we will miss her voice and her presence.
The family would like to thank all the Nurses, Doctors, and staff at the Victoria Hospital’s 6th Floor, as well as the nurses and CCA’s at Pineview Terrace, Rotary House. Your exceptional care and compassion were second to none. As a family we always knew Cec was getting the best care.
