CATHERINE OLIVE THOMPSON July 15, 1957 – November 12, 2010. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cathy Thompson on November 12, 2010 at the age of 53. Cathy's life came to a peaceful end with loved ones by her side after a very short battle with pancreatic cancer. Born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Cathy later made the move to Alberta and eventually settled in Calgary where she married Robert Thompson and raised their three children. After a few years in the city the family relocated to Aldersyde, and then in 1995 to an acreage near Mossleigh Alberta. Cathy was clearly at home in the country where she loved to tend her gardens and raise her lambs. She devoted her life to helping others in any way that she could from lending a hand to neighbors and friends and taking into her home several nieces, nephews and friends, to serving as a Board Member for Calgary and Area Child and Family services for several years. Predeceased by her father John Saam, brothers James, Alex, Felix, and Richard Saam, and sister Alice Rondeau, she will be lovingly remembered by her mother Evelyn Saam, children Nicole (Neal) Thompson, Jessica (Ryan) Baptist, and Les (Nicole) Thompson and grandchildren Chase, Lily, Rayleigh, Kya, Deegan as well as one more soon to make an arrival in January. She also leaves behind loving Common-Law partner John Bath and his children John, Charity and Morgan Bath, brothers and sisters Wayne (Lorraine) Saam, David (Marilyn) Saam, Sandra (Lloyd) Lang, Margaret (Rick) Hemminger, Lawrence Saam, Willy Saam, Violet Saam, Danny Saam, Neil Saam, and brother-in-law Gerry Rondeau, and many nieces and nephews. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Sarah Makhdoom and Dr. Spice and all of the staff at the High River Hospital and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. We couldn't have asked for better care. A Celebration of Life was held in Cathy's honor Saturday November 27, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Mossleigh Community Hall 1st Street and 1st Ave Mossleigh AB. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 3 from River Park Memorial Chapel – 301 River Street West. Reverend Rick Martin will officiate. She will be laid to rest with family at South Hill Cemetery. Should family and friends wish to make a tribute to Cathy's memory, we ask that donations be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 29th Street NW Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 telephone 1-866-238-3735. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wayne Timoffee – Funeral Director.
