It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine Laura Miller (née Umpherville). Catherine passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and compassion.
Catherine was born and raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She met the love of her life, Carlyle, in 1975, and they were married on July 30, 1982. They moved to Selkirk, Manitoba, to be alongside Carlyle’s family and later returned home to Saskatchewan with their children. Cathy began her career in Saskatoon as a teacher assistant at Princess Alexandra School. Once she returned to Prince Albert, she continued working in various schools.
Catherine leaves to mourn her loving husband, Carlyle Miller Sr.; her children, Connie Umpherville, Carlyle Miller Jr., Cassandra Miller, Melanie Patterson, Devon LeBlanc, Charmaine Miller, and Michelle Painchaud. Cathy’s children blessed her with 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her mother, Lillian Umpherville; her brothers, Frank (Debbie), Merle, and Roderick; and her sisters, Doreen (Mike Sander), Sandra (Ken Ford), Tammy (Edward Grant Riley), Eleanor (Glen Morrissette), and Jean (John Sutherland).
She will also be dearly missed by her special lifelong friends, George “Chiga” Ledoux, Kevin Burden, Marliese Frommelt, and Pearl Morin.
She was predeceased by her father, Ingram Umpherville; her brother, Earl Umpherville; her sisters, Debbie Roberts and Janette Cummings; her son-in-law, Steven Halkett Sr.; her great-grandchildren, Jackson Watson-Miller, Sophia Catherine Bear, and Keja Halkett; and her chosen family, Brittany Morin.
The Wake Service will commence at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, July 31, 2026, at East Hill Community Club, 290 23rd Street East, Prince Albert, SK. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at East Hill Community Club, 290 23rd Street East, Prince Albert, SK.
Following the Celebration of Life, Catherine will be taken into the care of River Park Funeral Home for cremation. A luncheon will follow, and all family and friends are welcome to attend.
