Catherine Eileen “Pat” Getz (nee Welch), our beautiful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a special friend to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2015 at the Birchview Nursing Home in Birch Hills, SK.  She was born on April 22, 1925 in Aiken, Minnesota (the 3^rd oldest of 9 Children) and when she was four years old her family moved to Tway, SK where she then spent most of her younger years. In 1949, she married Ken Getz, the love of her life, who predeceased her in 2012.  She and Ken married for 62 years; side by side they labored on their farm in Birch Hills and were a very successful team.  She is reunited with Ken in heaven and will be back doing the things that she loved so much to do.  Mom was a wonderful cook, baker, and loved gardening, especially flowers.  Entertaining and being close to her family was important to her, she cherished all and particularly loved to cuddle babies.  She was musical, stylish, upto date with current news including the CBC, but also enjoyed watching the Canadian Curling and Roughrider games.  Pat and Ken had four kids, David, Karyn, Ray and Lorie and as a result were fortunate to have many grandchildren and great grandchildren to share in their lives.  Family was so important to Pat and she took every opportunity to spend with those she loved.  Pat is survived by her son David (Brenda) Getz – Lesli Ann (Bryce MacLeod-Griffin, McKenna, Kennedy and Hayden, Tracy Getz, Carlene (Greg) Swales – Kohl, Graham (Camile Mangatal) Getz – Kelton and Kayla; her daughter Karyn Warder (Harry Gabel), Todd (Belle) Warder and Tawnee Mihalcea, Kristen Warder; her son Ray (Chris) Getz – Avery and Mandi Getz; her daughter Lorie (Don) Swenson – Lisa (Kelly) LaBrash – Emma, Lyndon, and Seth, Stephanie (Jeff) Kohle, and Erica Swenson; sisters Betty Yeaman and Carole Thoms; sisters-in-law Eva Welch and Shirley Welch; brother-in-law: Vernon LaRoche; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Pat was predeceased by her loving husband Ken Getz; her parents John and Mathilda Welch; her brothers Jim, Dick, Tommy and Jerry Welch; her sisters Marge Bridge and Ruth LaRoche; her brothers-in-law Herbert Bridge, Al Yeaman and Morris Thoms; her sisters–in law: Lily Welch and Anne Welch and her grandchild Hillary Swenson.  Some thoughts from Pat to share with you: You can shed tears that I am gone or you can smile because I lived. You can remember me and only that I’m gone or you can cherish my memory and let go and live on.  Special thanks to the staff at Birchview Nursing Home for their love and attention during Mom’s final two years.  Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28^th Street West, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating.  Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, PO Box 12013, STN BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 2L3 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3^rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
