Catherine “Cathy” Virginia Jeffries passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, with her family by her side at the Rose Garden Hospice.
Catherine was born on June 29, 1939, to Wilbert and Dorothy Petty in the Mount Forest District, Ontario. She went on to continue her studies, becoming a school teacher for 10 years. She met George in Regina, SK and married him on July 31, 1965, in Ontario. They moved back to the family farm in Major, SK, where they started their family of 2 boys. David was born on January 11, 1973, and Kevin was born on December 12, 1973. They later left the family farm, moving north to Mayview, SK in 1988, where they lived for a few years before moving to Prince Albert, SK in 1994. Cathy loved being with family and friends she met along the way. She loved gardening and had many hobbies including sewing, knitting and cross-stitch. She also loved a good card game. She loved all kinds of gatherings, whether it was birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, and even the New Years Party, just so she had an excuse to bring her famous dill dip that she took to every function. It was definitely a staple for every gathering. If you stopped by for a visit, there was always a big pot of soup on the stove and a pot of coffee on. Cathy and George decided to try their hand at selling CAA memberships, which they did for many years before finally retiring. Cathy was part of many organizations, always helping with fundraising efforts. She was also part of the Golden Links Rebekah Lodge. She loved spending 17 winters in sunny Key Largo with her son Kevin, Kim and grandson, Ben. She spent lots of time burning the wheels of the golf cart with her grandson Ben and his dog Buddy.
Catherine is survived by her sons, Kevin (Kim) of Florida and their son, Benjamin (Bridget) of North Carolina, and his son, Brandon Wasylenchuk of Kindersley; and Marc (Lisa) of Montreal, and their children Alex, Isabel, Margo, and Max. She is also survived by her siblings-in-law, Murray (Carol) Jeffries of Major, Ron Auchstaetter of Watson, Rita Auchstaetter of Moosomin and Mae Uhrich of Camrose; her special friends, Angie Roode, Tanya Roode, Josh Jorgensen, Debbie St. Germain, and Lisa Rascher, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She is predeceased by her husband George in 2010 and her son David in 2020; her parents, Wilbert and Dorothy Petty; her sister, Adele Sheill; her brother, Jim Petty; her parents-in-law, Ruth and Harry Jeffries; sisters-in-law, Carol Jeffries and Hazel Jeffries; brothers-in-law, Lloyd Jeffries, Jack Fletcher, Jack Uhrich and Dick Auchstaetter.
