UPDATED WITH SERVICE INFORMATION
Boris Raymond Sen
We share the news of Boris Sen’s passing with both sadness and a sense of peace. He died peacefully at sunrise on May 28, 2025, at the age of 92. After living with Alzheimer’s in his later years, his long and full life ended quietly.
Born on July 21, 1932, on a farm near Gronlid, Saskatchewan, Boris was the son of Frank and Anna Sen (Arsenie). He spent his early years on the family farm alongside his sisters Sylvia and Sonnia, where he developed a strong work ethic, love for nature and a deep sense of family that stayed with him throughout his life.
Boris pursued higher education at the University of Saskatchewan, earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He began his career as a Federal Fisheries officer, a role that not only reflected his respect for the natural world but also led him to meet the love of his life, Patricia Craig, at a New Year’s dance. They married in 1961 in Pelly, Saskatchewan.
In 1964, Boris and Pat moved to Ontario, where he graduated from the University of Waterloo, receiving his degree in Optometry. While in Toronto, they welcomed their first child, Timothy. In 1968, the family returned to Saskatchewan and settled in Prince Albert. Shortly after their return, they welcomed their second child, Michelle.
Boris began his Optometric practice in PA, forming a partnership with Doug Oliver. Over the years, the practice grew to include Dr. Wayne Diako and Dr. Steven Malec. Boris practiced for 30 years, retiring in 1999.
Boris’s true labour of love was the family acreage in Buckland, where he spent countless hours in his garden, caring for the land, and working in his woodworking shop. A passionate creator, Boris enjoyed painting, carpentry, and building with his hands. He also had a deep love for music—playing the violin, trumpet, bass ukulele, and just about any instrument that caught his interest.
An avid outdoorsman, Boris enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He was also deeply committed to his community, actively participating in the Wildlife Federation, the Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine Club, and numerous other organizations throughout his life.
Dad, you are free now. We will miss your stories and laughter. Now you can sit in peace, watch the birds and greet each sunrise without hurry as you wait for us. Until we are all together again, we hold you in every memory, every shared laugh and every quiet moment.
With all of our love, your family.
Boris leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Patricia (nee Craig); his son, Timothy (Vicki); his daughter, Michelle Sen (Blair Ouellete); and his cherished grandchildren, Holly Rance and Hayden Rance (Faith), and Cameron Sen and Alexander Sen. He is also survived by his sisters, Sylvia Tomashewski and Sonnia Stimmel; his brothers-and sisters-in-law, Jim and Shirley Craig, and Charlie and Ruthanne Craig; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members—all of whom he loved dearly. Boris was predeceased by his father and mother, Frank and Anne Sen, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Archie and Florence Craig, his brothers-in-law, Paul Tomashewski, Charlie Clark, and Monty Stimmel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Prince Albert Wildlife Federation.
