Bonnie-Lou Edla Rogers
(March 18, 1946 – August 24, 2011)
Bonnie was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan on March 18, 1946 as the only child of Edla and Gust Larson. Bonnie passed away at home on August 24, 2011.
She grew up in the Kinistino area then married Clinton Rogers on October 17, 1964. They moved to the farm where they raised 3 girls – Candace, Carmel and Loralie. Bonnie had one desire with her lifelong love, to raise independent children. She was patient as a stay at home mom for the first few years and a dedicated farm wife.
As the girls grew older, Bonnie took on the work world as a page and finished her career as the head librarian at the Melfort Public Library. Bonnie retired after 23 years. After retirement, Bonnie continued to keep busy with grandchildren and a great grandchild. So many interests lead to an extensive circle of friends. People close to Bonnie would remember: knitting, making magnetic jewelery, keno tournaments, traveling, fishing, camping, crocheting, sewing, painting, gardening, collecting, baking, cooking, farming, woodworking, puzzles, craft shows, playing cards, dancing and the list goes on.
Bonnie's health began to decline shortly after retirement. She continued to be active with more coffee breaks before her stroke in September 2009. Bonnie had brief stays at Melfort Union Hospital, Saskatoon City Hospital, Chateau Providence Home then Parkland with a full transition home. This was made possible with the help of a supportive, loving family and caregiver.
Bonnie is lovingly remembered and held close in the hearts of her husband Clinton, Candace (Shawn, Dakota, Delaney, Kaelen), Carmel (Richard, Brennen, Bryton), Loralie (Trevor, Amanda, Benjamin), and numerous family and friends.
Service of remembrance was held Friday, August 26, 2011 from Flett's Springs Church at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating. Interment followed at Flett's Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Bonnie, may be directed to Flett's Springs Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MELFORT FUNERAL HOME LTD. of Melfort, SK. (306)-752-2714. www.melfortfuneralhome.com
