BOYD, Bonnie Eileen – On Monday, July 14, 2014, Bonnie passed away peacefully in the Melfort Union Hospital with family by her side. Bonnie was born to Rev. Clarence and Dorothy Preston on April 4, 1950 in Summerland, British Columbia. She spent her early years growing up in BC until they moved to the prairies, first being Selkirk, Manitoba. Then Star City, Saskatchewan in 1964 where she finished her schooling and met her husband, Ray. Bonnie and Ray were married in 1970 and spent two years in Edmonton, Alberta before returning to the farm where they were still calling home at the time of Bonnie's passing. Bonnie loved living in the country and being involved with the farm. She is survived by her husband Ray; her son Guy (Shawna), grandchildren Jordie, Carter and Alyssa; her daughter Brenda (Shane) Acorn, grandchildren Simon, Bennett and Liam; sister Shirley (Edwin) Preece; brother-in-law Clare (Evelyn) Boyd; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Rev. Clarence and Dorothy Preston; parents-in-law, Wesley and Christina Boyd; grandson Grayson Acorn. Funeral service was held at the Chapel of Melfort Funeral Home on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Rempel officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Grout, Myron Boyd, Virgil Penner, Dale Boyd, Tim Weisberg & Bernie Hermus. Tribute by Doug Cooney was presented by Shane Acorn. Music ministry was provided by Janice Penner. Interment followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions, in memory of Bonnie, may be directed to Crohn's & Colitis Canada 600 – 60 St. Claire Avenue East, Toronto, Ontario M4T 1N5.
