Blanche Vermette

It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of, Blanche Irene Vermette (née Laviolette), late of Prince Albert, on Sunday, August 14, 2016. Blanche was born in Duck Lake, SK on April 5, 1925. She grew up on a family farm. In her early years, she worked as a housekeeper in Saskatoon and Kinistino. Mom met the love of her life, Urban Vermette, and they married on October 22, 1949 and settled in Nordale. After having children, she dedicated her life and time to them. In her spare time, mom enjoyed picking berries, gardening, baking, listening to music, and telling stories. She was predeceased by her loving husband Urban Vermette; parents Norbert and Adelaide (Lejour) Laviolette; in-laws Joseph and Sarah (Delorme) Vermette; siblings Bernadette (George) Bruce, Corinne (Mike) La Framboise, Rose Anna (Fred) Dumont, Gildas (Rosa), Marie Louise (Bill) Eng, Walter (Rosie), and Lillian (Clarence) Paul. Blanche is survived by her brother Norman (Caroline) Lafond. Blanche will be dearly missed by her children Garry, June (Edgar) Grimard, Judy (Manuel), Donald, Janet (Doug), Brenda (Ben), and Loretta (Wayne) Rudniski; her grandchildren Sonya (Karl), Shane (Miranda), Darcy (Crystal), Terry, Sandra, Rhonda, Tammy (Trevor), Trevor (Courtney), Chelsea (Jason), Michelle, Lindsey, Ashton, Ryan, Ashley (Trent), Derry (Brandy), Nicole Andrew); her great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Dutchak House, Pineview, and the staff at Victoria Hospital who took such good care of our mother. Prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17 from River Park Memorial Home Chapel – 301 River Street West. Mrs. Margaret Ferchuk will officiate. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18 from Sacred Heart Cathedral – 1401 – 4 Avenue West by Father Matthew Ngugen. Interment will take place at South Hill Cemetery.
