The Receveur family are sad to announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Beulah, who passed away on the morning of Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 84 years.
Beulah Phyllis Halcro was born in Prince Albert on Sunday, September 27, 1936. She grew up on the Halcro homestead near St. Louis, sharing a crowded 3-room house with her parents and seven siblings.
Beulah left the farm as soon as she was old enough and, along with her sister Dee, became a resident nurse at the PA Sanatorium, helping to care for tuberculosis patients. She remembered this time as one of the happiest periods of her life. Her San colleagues remained among her closest lifelong friends.
Beulah was known for her sharp sense of humour. She loved to tease people and she loved to laugh. She also loved to dance. Unsurprisingly, it was at a community dance near Prince Albert, that she met Muril Receveur. They fell in love and were married in 1960.
After marrying, she left the San and joined Muril on the Receveur family farm in Polwarth. There they welcomed the births of their first three children, Brian, Mary Lynn and Kevin. They moved to Prince Albert in 1964. Their fourth child, Kerry, soon followed.
In addition to being a wife and mom, Beulah took several jobs caring for disadvantaged and handicapped children. In the 1970s, she and Muril began taking in foster children and Beulah continued being a foster mom after Muril’s unexpected death in 1986. She cared for well over 100 children over this time.
Beulah is survived by her children Brian, Mary Lynn, Kerry and Cory, her son-in-law Curtis Wiebe, and her grandchildren Sara and Christina Wiebe. She is also survived by her sisters Ruth, Inez and Delores, as well as many, many in-laws, nephews, nieces and foster-children.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Muril and her son Kevin, her parents John and Mae Halcro; brothers, Wesley and Lawrence; sisters, Kay and Linda, and parents-in-law Chester and Malee.
A Private Funeral Service will be held for Beulah at 11:30 a.m., on Monday, February 22, 2021, family and friends unable to attend the service may view it online at http://www.livememorialservices.com/Home/ServiceDetail/10968 .
