January 25, 1930 – May 14, 2016
Beulah Eileen MITCHELL (nee Howrie) passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on May 14, 2016 on what would have been her husband George’s 95th birthday. Through prayer Beulah showed her love for her family, friends and community. Over the years Beulah was an active volunteer with many organizations – West Central Home and School, Ridge Community Club, Prince Albert Exhibition Association, canvassing for the Canadian Cancer Society and the Canadian Heart Foundation, MacDowall and District Lioness, Prince Albert Top Hat Lions and the Clouston and Area History Book committee. After becoming blind Beulah continued to be involved as much as she was able and helped with policies in many of these organizations. She also joined the White Cane Club and was an inspiration to many. Beulah devoted her life to her Lord through her work in the congregations of St. Luke’s, St. Catherine’s and St. Stephen’s Anglican Churches and the Anglican Diocese of Saskatchewan. She was recognized with the Order of Saskatchewan for her dedication to the Anglican Church in 2002. Even without sight and arthritic hands Beulah managed to create lasting keepsakes – knitted afghans for all of her family, special friends, many new babies in the community and prayer shawls for the church. Beulah is survived by her three children and their families – son Ivan (Melody) and his family Carla (Jason) Paulsen and their children Kadin, Kolton, Lief, and Molly; Brett (Marina) Mitchell and their children Karstin, Elly and Bently; Erin (Martin) King and their children Rori, Ashtyn and Garnet; Mackenzie Mitchell (Lyle Adams) and their children Corbin, Bella and Gabriel: son Eldon (Cathy) and his family Wade (Debbie) Mitchell and their children Colby and Teagan; Carrie (Jason) McCloy and their children Brayden, Ryley and Grayson; Mindy (Michael) Green and their children Ethan, Bryce and Regen; and Kaytlyn Mitchell: daughter Heather (Forrest) Pocha and her family Jodi (Carey) Letendre and their children Andrew, Tessa and Geordy; and Derrick (Sarah) Pocha and their children Darby, Marly and Georgia. She is also survived by her brother Cyril Howrie; sister Thelma Sinclair; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Beulah was predeceased by her husband of 58 years George Mitchell; parents James and Daisy Howrie; brother Merrill Howrie; sisters-in-law Dorothy Ede & Helen Howrie; brothers-in-law Leroy Ede & Raymond Sinclair and two infant great grandsons Legend Paulsen & Carson McCloy. Beulah’s family would like to thank the staff of Country Gardens at Mont St. Joseph Care Home for the love and care they provided for Beulah for the past few years. Beulah was blessed to be able to grow in faith while at Mont St. Joe’s as she attended church services of all denominations and enjoyed bible study group. Beulah will always be remembered for her devotion to her family and community – her strong faith and generosity. A Service of Praise and Thanksgiving will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday June 3, 2016 at St. David’s Anglican Church, 524 – 24 Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Dr. Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorials may be made to one of the many organizations Beulah was involved with or a charity of donor’s choice.
