August 12, 1934 – March 26, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Betty Gendron announce her passing on March 26th, 2018 at the Big River Health Centre Lakewood Lodge.
Betty had rheumatic fever at a young age, but that did not stop her from enjoying an active youth, including skating in the backyard, where her Dad made a rink each year for everyone to enjoy and at Victoria School in Saskatoon; which is where she spent 8 years of public school. Betty became a very accomplished speed skater.
After high school Betty attended Normal School and then taught in Saskatoon, Speers, Hawarden, Debden and Big River SK. During the summer months Betty took her two sons Dick and Jon to her Mom and Dad’s home in Saskatoon where she took university classes to obtain her degree. Later she spent two summers in Victoria B.C. in order to receive another degree for teaching children with special needs.
Always wanting to expand her knowledge and contribute to society Betty spent a number of years during summer break at St. James United Church in Regina, working towards becoming a Lay Minister.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her son Richard (Dick) Braidek and partner Paulette, grandson Ashley Dyck and his partner Mila and Betty’s great grandchildren Miko and Kuba, Son Jon Braidek and partner Jessica, Betty’s grandchildren Samara, Adam, Daniel, Owen and Ferrin.
