Bert (Borgé) Heé Pedersen passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on July 1, 2014 at the age of 90 years at Melfort, SK.
Bert was born on April 3, 1924 the eldest of 10 children born to Martin and Ellen Pedersen. He was born in Denmark. He came to Canada in 1927 when he was just 3 years old. His father farmed west of Melfort until 1941, when they moved to Star City.
He attended school in Melfort before moving to Star City. In 1946 he attended the school of Agriculture in Saskatoon. He then worked at the Co-op Creamery in Melfort. He married Beulah Mooney in December of 1952. Then in 1955 they bought the home quarter of land from Bert’s father and they began a Dairy farm. In 1960, he built a new dairy barn and in 1972 he expanded by building another barn. Then in 1981 his wife passed away and the dairy was too much for him to keep up, so he sold the dairy cows, but still had beef cattle and grain farming. In November of 1982, he married Edith (McKee).
He enjoyed curling, bowling, dancing, gardening and also loved family get-togethers. He enjoyed many trips to the U.S.A. and elsewhere with Beulah and then with Edith. In 1984, Bert and Edith made a trip to England, Scotland and then over to Denmark. This was the only time he went back to Denmark.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Edith, sons Ralph (Kim), Robin, stepson Rodger (Carole) , Edith’s children Brad, Brian and Cindy, his step grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sisters Vip, Johanne, Elsa (Keith), Maria (Ken), brother Chris (Grace), sisters-in-law Marcie and Agnes; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
